The Innovation team at the University of New Hampshire is proud to have successfully secured a renewal of the Federal and State Technology (FAST) grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This renewed funding enables the continuation of the FOSTER (FOcused SBIR/STTR Teaching, Equity and Results) program, aimed at guiding small businesses in New Hampshire in applying for federal funding through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.
The FOSTER program, managed by UNHInnovation, has been instrumental in supporting innovative small businesses throughout the state, with a specific focus on women-owned, rural, and socially or economically disadvantaged businesses. These businesses often face unique challenges in accessing development funding and navigating the complex federal grant application process. Through workshops, mentorship, and tailored guidance, FOSTER equips New Hampshire’s entrepreneurs with the tools they need to secure critical SBIR/STTR grants, driving innovation and economic growth within the state.
The renewal of the FAST grant underscores the University of New Hampshire's continued commitment to fostering innovation and research in the Granite State. By providing critical support to small businesses at the forefront of technology and innovation, FOSTER helps unlock opportunities for entrepreneurs from all backgrounds.
"This grant renewal is not only a validation of the impact we've made, but also a critical step forward in supporting small businesses across New Hampshire," said Marc Eichenberger, Associate Vice President and Chief Business Development and Innovation Officer at the University of New Hampshire. "The FOSTER program plays a vital role in helping underrepresented business owners access federal research and development funding, which in turn strengthens our local economy and drives innovation."
Since its inception, the FOSTER program has helped small businesses across New Hampshire access SBIR/STTR funding, empowering them to scale their innovations and contribute to the state's growing technology ecosystem. With this renewed funding, UNHInnovation will continue to expand its reach and support even more underserved communities, ensuring that economic opportunity is accessible to all.
