UNHInnovation hosted the annual Innovators’ Dinner on October 9th to celebrate the intellectual property achievements of the past year. Faculty, staff, and students gathered in Huddleston Hall to recognize the collective hard work that resulted in 124 license agreements, 68 innovation disclosures, six patents filed, six patents issued, two trademarks registered, over $500,000 in royalty income, and upcoming initiatives geared towards entrepreneurial creation, development, and support. New Hampshire Innovation Research Center (NHIRC) is excited to share that Turbocam Energy Solutions, LLC, a Dover-based affiliate of Turbocam International, is collaborating with researchers from the University of New Hampshire to evaluate the feasibility of replacing forging and casting with an additive manufactured alloy. Quaterrylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon (essentially a small piece of graphene) with many applications in organic photovoltaics, organic thin-film transistors, and organic light emitting diodes due to its photophysical and semiconducting properties. Despite the unique value of quaterrylene, the current availability of quaterrylene is limited. Existing methods of synthesizing quaterrylene are expensive, time consuming, and result in low yields.
